What's the deal with Islamophobia?

I wanted to post about this for a while as it always seems to be the top of the conversation list between me and my freind from school Shanur. I was going to post about how people make too much of a fuss about islamophobia but when i was searching the word islam in google, the first picture i saw was of a fundementalist one. I thought it was a bit silly so i even typed in good muslim and a picture of terrorists came up. Being only one of three christians in my class, i know what it feels like to be oppressed and dipicted upon. The other day when i travelled down the city to join the memorial for those who died in 7/7 i thought i would buy myself a newspaper (The Gaurdian) that i don't usually buy, due to the fact i havent got the time to read it these days. Sitting opposite an asian lady on the tube, and i have to be honest here, i couldnt help but think about the sterotypes towards her....i mean i didnt have a problem or anything, i was just wondering what other people might be thinking. I felt so ashamed of myself, some of the kindest and dearest freinds of mine are muslims and i know that one of the reasons why they are so freindy and peace loving is because of what their religion preeches, love to all. Sitting opposite that lady on friday made me realise why so many muslims are very suppresive towards the rest of society, or is it the rest of society being suppresive towards muslims.
Maybe its the media, maybe its our goverment, maybe its god, maybe its google, maybe its just me, whoever it is stirring up such hatred towards this group of people, i must say i pitty them. Im not racist and i don't normally follow the sterotypes of society. Im sorry to the woman who i stereotyped on friday, to be honest you made me think a little bit more about islamophobia and you made me understand a bit more. I would hate to be stereotyped because of George Bush or Tony Blair and i would expect people to judge me as an induvidual. Mtt. 7:1, 2. (Judge NOT that YE be NOT JUDGED, For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.)

It is sad that muslims are judged upon. but we are judged because of tony blair, by other people from countries who do not no anything about as. Thats why people bomb and kill inocent people every day.

i feel being judged is unfortunately part of what todays society has become. i'm not saying this it is a good thing, but we can't help but judge people sometimes as alot of the times its for our own safety. like when you see a gang of teenagers you can't help but hide your phone away. it's a shame muslims are targeted alot, i think that comes back to the political side of things which i think is more or less out of our hands
